Remedial Massage Treatment
A results focused treatment, tailored to your specific needs. A remedial massage treatment may include deep tissue massage, myofascial release, neuromuscular techniques, advanced sports massage techniques, trigger point therapy, swedish/relaxation massage, PNF stretching, postural analysis, muscle testing, breath re-training, elements of craniosacral therapy, dry needling, orthopaedic cupping, and visceral manipulation techniques.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release refers to any manual techniques applied to muscle tissue as well as connective tissue or fascia. I first studied myofascial release in 2010 and then more in depth in 2015 with renowned fascia expert Tom Myers, many different MFR techniques are incorporated into a treatment. There are also many self treatment options with myofascial release which I will provde during/after your session.
Dry needling
Clinical use of acupuncture needles to specific myofascial points. Dry needling is an effective treatment option for pain relief, reducing inflammation, and healing old or chronic soft tissue damage. It’s most effective when used in conjunction with other modalities such as therapeutic massage and orthopaedic cupping.
Orthopaedic Cupping
Orthopedic Cupping Therapy is a myofascial release technique, that uses negative decompression with the applied cup/s releasing adhesions within the fascial tissue rather than the muscle directly. *Fascia is the connective tissue that envelopes every muscle in the body and is commonly known as ‘cling wrap’ surrounding our muscles and bones holding them all together.
Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral therapy (CST), is a gentle manual therapy that uses light touch to manipulate the bones of the skull, spine, and sacrum, as well as the surrounding soft tissues and cerebrospinal fluid. CST focuses on the craniosacral system, which includes the membranes and fluid surrounding the central nervous system, aiming to restore balance and function, and promote self-healing.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is a focused massage treatment tailored to the specific needs of the athlete or sports person, with the main goals being improved recovery, increased range of motion, injury prevention or treatment, decreased pain and better sporting performance. Can include many different massage types including neuromuscular techniques, trigger point therapy, deep tissue massage, myofascial release, mobilisation, stretching, exercise prescription.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to the techniques of Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure applied is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension.
The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).
Pregnancy Massage
Prenatal massage is a healthy way to promote overall wellness and support your physical and emotional wellbeing during pregnancy.
It’s a time of significant change in your body, which can result in tension, stress, or discomfort. Pregnancy massage will be adapted to support these changes in a safe and caring manner, providing deep relaxation while reducing pain, tension and anxiety, and increasing blood and lymph circulation. Pregnancy massage can also treat specific issues such as pubic symphysis disorder, back pain, hip and pelvic pain, sciatica, fluid retention, carpal tunnel, and headaches/migraine. It’s important when you are pregnant to see a qualified professional who understands anatomy and physiology.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a non invasive massage technique that uses light pressure and precise movements to stimulate the flow of lymph and support the body’s lymphatic function. These techniques are based on scientific & physiological principles that have been proven to encourage lymph flow. MLD can help to support healng, promote detoxification, reduce inflammation, reduce fluid retention, improve tissue health, boost the immune system and increase energy. Receiving MLD treatment is a very relaxing experience.
Restorative Relaxation Massage
Relaxation massage is a smooth, gentle, flowing style using Swedish massage techniques. This treatment will stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, which can change your body’s response to stress. It helps promote a state of deep rest and relaxation, relieves muscular tension, and also can improve circulation and range of movement. Breath re-training is often included to ensure a continued response. Craniosacral and visceral techniques may be utilised during this treatment as required.
Visceral Manipulation
Visceral Manipulation is the specific placement of soft manual forces to encourage normal mobility, tone and motion of the viscera and their connective tissues. This can improve the functioning of individual organs, the systems organs function within, and the structural integrity of the whole body. VM can treat imbalances throughout the body including musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous, urogenital, respiratory, digestive and lymphatic dysfunction. VM is a gentle, often relaxing treatment to receive and can result in reduced pain, improved wellbeing and greater overall function.
Kinesio Taping
Kinesio tape application helps encourage healing, supports impaired structures and tissues, enhances performance, reduces inflammation and bruising and provides stability through range of movement.
