Massage and Exercise for Posture Correction: A Team Effort

You know that nagging stiffness in the upper back across the top of the shoulders? Maybe it creeps up one or both sides of the neck to the base of the skull? Or maybe you’re more familiar with that low back ache and you can contort your body to find a bit of relief, only to stand up straight and have it come flooding right back.

Then you book in for a massage for its reliable fix.

Fast-forward 3 weeks and you start back at the beginning of the vicious cycle… What gives?

I have great news: it’s totally possible to escape the pain cycle and live a pain-free life!

Most often, unless you have an injury, the discomfort we experience in our day-to-day life is due to poor posture, and poor posture happens when we have muscles on one side of our body that are weak or short (in the images the word ‘tight’ is used) compared to the opposing muscle on the opposite side of the body. Massage is AMAZING for identifying these imbalances and also great for helping lengthen relatively short muscles. The bit you have to take responsibility for is the strengthening of the relatively weak muscles (which can also be identified by your massage therapist).

Between the two of us we can prevent the aches and pains of posture dysfunction and facilitate long-lasting pain-free activity and rest. What are you waiting for? Let’s do it!
